Are you ready for the biggest South Side baby shower? We need a village to raise children, and this community event is a gathering of villages!

Calling all moms-to-be, new moms and their families! Steward Family Hospital, the birthplace of Texas Vista Medical Center, will host a new beginning of the community baby shower and family resource fair on Saturday, October 23 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Games, activities, gifts, prizes, snacks and an educational day are all invited free of charge.

Texas Vista Medical Center and more than 30 community partners have come together to provide education, support, and useful gifts to pregnant women and new families. Dozens of lotteries and door prizes will be distributed throughout the day, including pack-and-play, highchairs and strollers. Children’s activities such as face painting and fun areas for children are available.

John Touton, president of Texas Vista Medical Center, said: “Community baby showers are a great way for pregnant women, new moms and their families to learn about all the community support available as they embark on this journey.”

Through Texas Vista Medical Center’s Healthy Horizons program, we gather people and resources, build relationships with community partners, and support the families we serve. The Women’s Wellness Resource Center, which offers free pregnancy tests, serves as one of those programs. Through the Wellness Resource Center, families have access to WIC, Nurse Family Partners and Healthy Start. The University of Palo Alto and its Educate South Community Initiative guarantee that all children born at Texas Vista Medical Center receive free post-secondary education, and another community partner to help families on the South Side of San Antonio.
