Tesla Headquarters to Move from California to Texas, Says Elon Musk – Report | Tesla

Elon Musk has reportedly announced that he will move its headquarters from California to Texas after months of threats suggested by Tesla.

According to The New York Times, the company is building a new plant in Austin, and the CEO confirmed the move at a shareholders meeting on Thursday.

Musk has held several open conflicts with California officials during the pandemic in areas where production at his plant in the Silicon Valley region was halted. Musk said earlier this year that he had little time in California and had already moved to Texas.

In an interview in December 2020, Musk had some scathing words about his former home state. “If a team wins too long, the team becomes happy,” says Verge. “California has won a long time. I think they take it lightly.”

Texas could sue one of the world’s richest men for more liberal tax laws. California has some of the highest state tax rates in the United States, but it does not collect personal income tax.
