San Antonio – San Antonio police released a body camera footage Wednesday that showed a police officer fatally shooting a suspect who had shot another police officer shortly before.
Stephen Primm, 35, was shot by police on August 13 after a long chase on the east side of the city.
Police were called that afternoon after threatening to shoot people outside a gas station in the 4500 blocks on Lakewood Drive.
The first chief officer who arrived at the scene, riding a bicycle, encountered Prime and tried to chase him.
Prime abandoned his bike and jumped into Wycliffe’s 4900 block alley and fled on foot.
The second officer found Prime and started chasing him. At that point, Prime pointed the gun and shot the policeman twice in the leg. The policeman got injured.
The Chief Officer returned to the car, drove to the last known location in Prime, and followed him near the car wash.
Prime came out from behind the building and froze for a moment in front of the police. Police believed Prime was still armed and police officers said he had fired his gun. Prime was declared brought dead on the spot.
“The suspect was later determined to be unarmed at the time,” Lieutenant Michel Ramos said in a narrated video of the shooting.
Police later found Prime’s firearms on the roof of a nearby house, police said.
The shooting is being investigated, police said.

According to experts, releasing SAPD video is a “great first step” but not transparent enough.
