At least one person was killed and 12 others were injured in a shooting at a grocery store in Collierville, Tennessee. Officials confirmed the number of victims on Thursday, and Police Chief Dale Lane called it the city’s worst tragedy ever.
“It’s as bad as this scene, and it’s scary. I’ve been into it for 34 years and haven’t seen anything like it. But our team is together and together it worked out,” Lane said.
Lane later confirmed in a press conference that the victim was currently undergoing surgery at least once and the other was in the ICU. There was no report of any police injuries.
The shooting was first reported at 2:00 pm local time when police were sent to a Kroger grocery store. The shooter reportedly died from gunshot wounds inflicted on himself.

Furthermore, local reports state that the suspect’s car was left in the parking lot after the shooting. Officials said the shooter’s identity was unknown at this time, but some speculate the suspect may have been a recently fired employee at the store.
Memphis Police said they are actively working with Collierville Police Station and the ATF to secure the scene.
