WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Meng Wanzhou, chief financial officer of Chinese telecommunications company Huawei Technologies, will appear in federal court in Brooklyn on Friday, according to the court’s calendar.
People familiar with the situation told Reuters Meng would appear virtually.
Huawei did not immediately receive a comment.
Meng was arrested at Vancouver International Airport on a US warrant in December 2018 on suspicion of defrauding HSBC about Huawei’s commerce in Iran.
She is innocent and says that she fought for relocation from Canada to the United States. Meng is confined to Vancouver and is monitored 24/7 by private security guards who pay as part of the bail contract.
The judicial hearing of his surrender case will end in August and the verdict will be on October 21.
