STOCKHOLM (Reuters) – Swedish online gaming company Betsson said on Thursday that chairman Patrick Svensk has resigned, shortly after sacking the company’s CEO earlier this month.
The company, which said it had appointed board member Johann Randberg as new chairman, said Svensk’s decision to resign was due to major shareholders losing confidence in him.
“There is a lack of complete confidence in the manner in which the CEO’s dismissal has been dealt with,” the company said in a statement.
Bateson said on September 17 that the board had begun the process of finding a replacement for CEO Pontus Lindvall.
Svensk has been chairman of Bateson since 2017, director since 2005, and Lundberg as director since 2018.
“This is very sad. I am sorry to disappoint the key owners, but I did what I felt was best for the company,” Svensk said.
