And while Apple treats it as such and offers the ability to receive your order quickly, Samsung has had more experience since then. In fact, with the exception of Apple, most major phone brands treat pre-orders like an exclusive option for ardent fans.
Benefits of pre-ordering over the phone
In January this year, Samsung launched the Galaxy S21 series. As Apple does now, Samsung initially offered the device in the pre-order stage for those who want the device to be delivered on its release date.
What made Samsung different from Apple was that it offered it to customers who pre-ordered. Samsung included a collection of freebies, apart from the obvious factor of being first in line. To be precise, this is a pair of Samsung wireless earphones and a smart tracker.
In addition, Samsung has introduced a collection of exclusive colors for those who pre-order, and like Apple, this could include a trade-in scheme and same-day delivery.
Apple, on the other hand, has always avoided it. If you pre-order your device during the iPhone 12 sale, you’ll get the phone on its release date without any additional benefits. This is similar to the current iPhone 13 launch.
Samsung isn’t the only one adopting this approach to pre-orders. OnePlus did this with headphones and a Google Stadia subscription, and Google introduced free headphones or Chromebooks before and after the slightly less restrictive era. Pre-ordering your Huawei P30 protects your Sonos speakers.
But why is this important?
Obviously, the brand doesn’t need to offer anything in the pre-orders. This is just one chance for fans to get their cell phone on first. However, Apple is currently one of the few brands that doesn’t reward loyal customers for their first purchase.
That doesn’t reduce the value of Apple’s iPhone 13 series, and in fact, at current prices, the iPhone 13 handset is part of the most valuable flagships ever. Nor has Apple become an attractive option.
In fact, Apple has always been uniquely different from its Android competitors, and that’s what makes it stand out. But every year when Apple’s latest iPhone pre-orders come out, it seems to be running less than its rivals.
