So Apple will get to keep its walled garden, but it will take a bit of effort to keep it running.

At least that’s the view of the federal judge presiding over the case brought by Epic Games against the iPhone maker. In a ruling issued on Friday, US District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers disagreed that Apple’s tight control over the distribution of apps on its devices makes the company an illegal monopoly. However, the judge found that Apple’s rules barring apps from offering alternative payment options outside of the company’s systems qualify as “competitive conduct” under California law.
