While there is an emerging political consensus that Democrats’ $3.5 trillion budget reconciliation bill is a reckless attempt to implement Bernie Sanders’ agenda, a separate plan to spend $1 trillion on infrastructure is a reasonable bipartisan agreement. But don’t short-sell the infrastructure plan—it’s also a coercive fluke.

As the Left in Congress begins to threaten to slash infrastructure spending by an additional trillion, sane lawmakers should consider shooting the Sandornists their legislative hostage.
