How long are we talking when you say too long? like 4 years?prev My Struggle??

No, but as you know, there are some very old elements when writing a novel. They may be in those books, or in my thoughts, or for a very long time, and I haven’t done anything about it. Then you write a novel, and then you use everything you can.

I just finished writing my second novel two weeks ago. I’ve been working on it a bit, but I’m done. I will send it tomorrow.

Please tell us about a wider project. You talked about a novel happening in space. Do you envision a series of novels?

I can’t say much except that there are currently two books written. I noticed when I started morning Star It takes a while to tell this story. I don’t know the exact amount, number or timing, but I plan to write several novels in this universe in the same world, not necessarily the same character.

When you wanted to write this, you said that such a guiding principle was a novel in many voices. Am I curious whether you find any of them easier or harder to write?

The first thing I did was Solvig. She was the first woman I ever wrote to, so it was incredibly difficult. I spent a long time in this. But when I found out how to do it, it was easy.

I want to ask you about a character, a young woman, and Iselyn. I know she’s digging Billie Eilish. Are you a fan of Billie Eilish?

No. When I asked some young people in the house what they were listening to, they found some kind of singer and dance. I listened to them and I chose [Billie]..

There are many different bands and musicians in your book like Drug War and Father John Misty. When will a band of music you enjoy make the leap to something you put in the novel?

It’s many different levels. Whenever I write, I play the same music thousands of times over and over, so it’s like engaging in a novel with me in a weird way. When I first heard about the War on Drugs, I remembered traveling to the United States. It was just driving in the Midwest at night. It was like minus 20 in the car, so this incredibly atmospheric music ended. Then I wrote, I went to Russia, and I wrote an article about Russia. I was traveling there and the music played non-stop. Now whenever I listen to it, I feel two different things. And my wife and I saw him in London. it was very nice. The good news is that there is a new record.

The biggest role I played in this novel was Father John Misty. his last record [God’s Favorite Customer] Wonderful. He’s in it too. I don’t know if it’s in [the English edition] because it’s actually a song [are copyrighted], but in Norwegian, at least I have a lyrics to his song.

I know you like to write early in the day. Did it change during the interruption? What does your daily life look like these days?

I wake up at 6:30 because they always start leaving at quarter past seven, so I want to say goodbye [the kids].. then we are two years old and he wakes up at that time. So we stay with him and take him to nursery school and school. All this is done by 9 o’clock. Then I smoke and drink coffee in the garden and then start working at 9:30. Then I work until 3 o’clock and pick up my daughter and son. I cook dinner with him, read a book at the end of the day and then go to sleep. This is a normal day.

Is there lunch, or is it just coffee and cigarettes until dinner?

In Norway, there is no such thing as a hot lunch, at least when I lived there. You have bread or something. That’s why I don’t eat lunch when I’m alone. I eat dinner late. I love to cook, so I cook for dinner almost every day.

What is your typical cuisine?

My typical dish is the very tasty Wiener Schnitzel, which is very tasty. I also do a very simple osobuko, which is incredibly delicious. Its my favorite dish.
