Loafers find their place in the modern menswear jungle and do their best to frame sneakers on top of the proverbial shoe pile. Earlier this year, we called them “the most important shoes of 2021.” There’s a good reason for this. No other kick offers restless comfort in a loafer-sharp style. And today, a great loafer was released as a full circle collaboration between J.Crew and Blackstock & Weber. This is an up-and-coming shoe label started by one of the crew’s own graduates.

“I was part of the initial team at the J. Crew Liquor Store,” says Christopher Eswaria, founder and creative director of Blackstock & Weber. “I worked there while studying menswear design at the Fashion Institute of Technology.” The liquor store is the cover of a somewhat famed, formerly tribe, who love menswear alike for city types and those leaning toward the 2010s. As Echeveria says, the whole project was very simple and very organic. J. “It was a lot of switching until we found something that felt like a natural connection between brands,” Crews approached. The end result is a gorgeous two-tone loafer that mixes rustic brown and tan with a sharp cowhide print. The included lookbook reveals just how much you can get out of a well-designed loafer. The pair wears blue jeans, gray sweatpants and a pretty shaded suit at the end. They stop at J.Crew’s site today.

Collaboration is also J. For the crew, it feels like a return to form. Maybe it will be a sign for the future.
