San Antonio —Local actress Lauren Koscio Kotkowski made her San Antonio Broadway theater debut earlier this year in what she calls “the need for more theater scenes.”
“San Antonio already has a huge arts scene. I wanted to open my own theater and combine a professional theater with a local theater. The theater’s goal is from out-of-state Broadway to professional actors. Bring them in and join them with great actors already in San Antonio,” said Koscio Kotkowski.
The company will start its debut season with “Buddy: Buddy Holy Story”. The cast includes local actors as well as professional actors who have previously performed the show in other states.
Cosio Kotkowski says that when selecting a show, San Antonio audiences want to find stories that may be relevant in the future.
“I’m a Latino American. The community here is a very vibrant Latino community. So, when selecting these shows for future productions, even shows in Spanish, etc., the audience wants something that I can do. I can relate. I connect with our strong Hispanic community here in San Antonio.”
The performance will only take place at the Joe Long Theater this weekend. Tickets are $35 for general admission and $25 for student/military/medical areas. Click here for more information about the San Antonio Broadway Theater and to purchase tickets.
