According to the White House, expanded operations at the Port of Los Angeles will nearly double the amount of cargo travel time. He said the additional shifts were agreed upon by the International Longshore and Warehouse Union on behalf of the dock workers.

Long Beach Port struggled to increase cargo flow after increasing its opening hours. Truckers complained that limiting container loading and unloading was a hassle. Shortage of truck drivers and warehouse personnel is also creating problems in the supply chain. It is unknown how many Los Angeles terminals will be operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and when they will be operational.

Port of Los Angeles managing director Jean Cerocca said the details of the night are still under consideration with supply chain companies.

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen confirmed in an interview with CBS Evening News on Tuesday that there was some shortage in the coming months.
