2022 Expedition Timberline SUV
Detroit-Ford Motor Co. announced a new off-road Timberline model on Wednesday as part of its 2022 campaign SUV update.
The new model gets a redesigned exterior, higher ground clearance, and off-road features such as tire upgrades and a stronger skid plate to protect the vehicle’s undercarriage.
This is the second Timberline model after Ford to introduce trim with similar functionality to the 2021 Explorer SUV.
2022 Ford Expedition Timberline SUV
With the new Timberline trim, Ford wants to take advantage of the increased sales of SUVs and demand for off-road vehicles. The appearance and functionality of such vehicles have become increasingly popular among mainstream consumers in recent years.
The Expedition Timberline is powered by Ford’s 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 engine, which produces 440 horsepower and 510 ft-pounds of torque.
Mike Kipley, chief engineer of Ford Expeditions, said in a statement, “The Timberline is for full-size SUV customers who need more passenger space, better off-road capabilities, and a base camp for the journey of their lives. We are aiming for the new standard. will install.”
In addition to the Timberline trim, Ford has also introduced the blacked-out “Stealth Edition Performance Package”. Ford will also introduce the Blue Cruise hands-free highway driving system in the 2022 top-end Expedition Platinum.
The BlueCruise system enables hands-free driving on more than 130,000 miles of dedicated highways in North America. It controls vehicle speed and steering while monitoring the driver’s attention via an infrared camera system.
2022 Ford Expedition “Stealth Edition Performance Package”
Ford’s system is similar to General Motors’ SuperCruise technology and competes with Tesla’s Autopilot.
The 2022 campaign will be assembled at Ford’s Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville, Kentucky, and will launch in the first quarter of next year.
The company did not announce the pricing of the 2022 campaign. Vehicles currently start between $50,000 and $75,000.
